The Football Cronicas Supports The Bottletop Foundation
As all eyes turn to Rio de Janeiro with the World Cup kicking off this week, we’re very excited to also see the launch of The Football Cronicas from Ragpicker Press.
The book showcases fifteen short pieces of writing that take the reader on a journey to the heart of Latin American society, by using football as their starting point. Subjects of the book include a prison team in Argentina, a transvestite team in Colombia, a kidnapped team in Bolivia, Quechua women playing in bowler hats in the Peruvian Andes, a Latin immigrant league in New York, Chilean hooligans on an away trip to Buenos Aires; there are stories set in Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Uruguay and Nueva Iorque.
The proceeds from the book are kindly being donated to support The Bottletop Foundation and our goal to empower young people & women in deprived communities.
