Bottletop Band Throwback: Carl Barat & The Libertines
The Libertines are set to reunite today for a stellar comeback gig at Hyde Park as part of the Barclaycard British Summer Time festival series and we couldn't be more excited! As well as DJing at our recent Narciso Rodriguez collaboration launch in London, Bottletop had the honour of working with Carl Barat, co-frontman of the band, on our most recent all star music project: The Bottletop Band.
Behind the scenes: Carl in the studio recording 'The Fall of Rome' for the Bottletop Band, with Bottletop Band members: Drew McConnell (Babyshambles), Andy Nicholson (Arctic Monkeys), Seb Rochford (Acoustic Ladyland), and Adam Ficek (Babyshambles).
The Bottletop Band is a cross-pollination of the sounds and stars of Brazilian music with a host of like-minded British musicians. In 2008 Bottletop came up with the idea of an interchangeable lineup of leading musicians collaborating on either side of the continent, with the aim of producing a groundbreaking cross-cultural record in support of The Bottletop Foundation.
Past members of the band include: Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals), Matt Helders (Arctic Monkeys), Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, VV Brown, Babyshambles, Sam Sparro, Fink, Reverend and The Makers, Eliza Doolittle, Tim Burgess (The Charlatans), Kassin, Domenico, Orquestra Imperial, Yungun.
