BOTTLETOP is proud to launch a series of limited edition designs featuring the powerful AFRICA'S OUT! emblem, created by leading artist, Wangechi Mutu.

The concept behind the collection reflects a desire to share and re-purpose high art, making it wearable and accessible and enabling the consumer to participate in the ultimate journey of each piece as it travels the world; adopting a new vocabulary and visual aesthetic as it is worn, loved and marked in its own unique way.

Born and raised in Kenya, and currently residing in New York, Wangechi's provocative and intricate work has achieved much global acclaim, and draws from amongst other things, her belief that Art can make an opportunity for empowerment, and that it is a vehicle for change. Her work encompasses collage paintings, sculptural work, and art-films that present alternative images of the female form. Through her use of elaborate narratives as a means of addressing misrepresentation, Wangechi creates new, and alternate Mythologies.
The distinct AFRICA’S OUT! butterfly is hand screen printed in gold on canvas, and embodies the transformation of Africa through radical creativity, and the opening up of a new space.

Lisa is the perfect East West tote bag. Designed for daily use, this tote is compact and functional with enough space for all the daily essentials. With handles and branding in Amazon vegetable tanned leather along with a large internal zip pocket for smaller valuables, Lisa is both functional and beautifully finished.

Proceeds from these designs will support Africa's Out!
