Maximising Impact – Eligibility Criteria for Partners

In its commitment to young people and its donors, the Bottletop Foundation’s prospective project partners must meet the following eligability criteria to be considered for support:

Appropriate size and stage of development: With rare exceptions prospective project partners running costs should not exceed £100,000. In most cases our partners have budgets in the £5,000 – £50,000 range. Our aim is to identify organisations at a relatively early stage of their development. The size of Bottletops grants are between £3,000 and £15,000 each year.

Direct involvement with young people: Project partners must work directly with young people. We do not support groups engaged exclusively in advocacy and research.

Capable management: Systems and processes for ensuring the responsible management of funds must be in place. At a mimimum, organisations must have basic reporting and accounting systems as well as phone and email access. Grants will be made in a series of staged payments based on a reporting system that is established with partner organisations.

Local leadership: We believe prospective project partners must be led by individuals who work and live in the community. We do not fund the local offices or affiliates of national or international organisations.

Legal status: Project partners must be registered with local or national government as not for profit organisations. If the political context makes legal registration unfeasible, organisations must demonstrate non profit equivalency. We do not provide start up funding for the creation of new organisations.
